Caregiving guidance is organized into five lessons: The Caregiving Imperative, Self-Preparation, Connecting, Shame, and Loss. Lessons 1, 2, 4, and 5 are expected to take about one hour each, while Lesson 3 on Connecting is expected to take about two hours to conduct. Lessons are organized in a slide presentation format using a bullet point format. Each lesson includes suggested narration for each bullet point. The lessons may be presented without slides either using handouts and/or a white board to visually present the titles and bullet points. The presentation may be done entirely verbally, but that is not recommended as visual reinforcement helps attendee retention of key points. [Suggested instructor actions during lesson presentations are noted in brackets.]
For each lesson three files may be downloaded from this website. First, the narration is in a pdf file, in large print so as to be easily read by an instructor without alteration if desired. It is also printed with large left margin for placing in a binder if desired. Next, a set of slides supporting the narration is included in Microsoft PowerPoint format. Finally, a set of handouts based on the PowerPoint slides, also in a pdf file.
Use of the suggested lesson material is without charge and lesson materials may be modified as desired to accommodate local needs. It is requested that presentations that use a substantial portion of the material include an attribution to the author, Lynn Marie Gault, or LM Ministries. The author may be contacted for consultation, comments, and/or corrections via email at: PrincessLMG20@gmail.com.
